Table of Contents

With group first aid training when an accident happens at work you don’t just have one person, but a whole team who can respond to save your colleague’s life. Rather than having each member of your staff go get trained in their own time, we can bring our range of nationally accredited first aid courses straight to your workplace.

Onsite group training and assessment fits in with your budget, your schedule, your industry, and your team. Your team will learn the same techniques, and when the worst happens they’ll be able to act together as a single unit when you get first aid group training at your workplace.

What's in a CPR and First Aid Course?

When you book corporate first aid training, you’re actually getting two qualifications in one. The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course also includes the HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation qualification. Together, here’s what you’ll learn in an onsite group first aid training course:

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

The HLTAID011 Provide First Aid course includes everything you need to know to respond when someone’s injured or experiencing a medical emergency, covering everything from minor incidents to life-threatening situations. You’ll learn the essential skills and knowledge required for basic first aid management and basic emergency life support for the following range of first aid responses:

  • Allergic reactions, asthma, and anaphylaxis

  • Strokes, cardiac arrest, and heart attacks

  • Bleeding

  • Choking

  • Seizures

  • Diabetes emergencies

  • Poisoning and envenomation

  • Drowning

  • Hypothermia and hyperthermia

  • Fractures, dislocations, sprains, and strains

  • Burns

  • Shock

It’s important to restate that you’ll also learn CPR as part of accredited first aid training. CPR training can also be done through its own specialised course, and this is often done through refresher training as HLTAID011 needs to be updated every three years, while HLTAID009 Provide CPR is recommended to be retaken annually.

HLTAID009 Provide CPR Course

HLTAID009 is the standalone CPR qualification that’s included within broader first aid courses. This short, intensive course drills in the techniques needed to keep someone alive when their heart stops, and is best taken once every year to keep your skills fresh so you don’t freeze up in a real life emergency. A CPR certification for businesses covers:

  • The DRSABCD protocol

  • Recognising cardiac arrest and unconsciousness

  • How to perform rescue breaths and chest compressions

  • Differences in CPR between adults and children

  • Automated external defibrillator (AED) use

Who Should Enrol in an Onsite Workplace First Aid Training Course?

First aid training

Just about anyone working in any industry can stand to benefit from getting their whole staff trained with a group first aid training course. Whether you run a construction company, manage a retail store, operate a manufacturing facility, own a hospitality business, or work in an office environment, having trained staff ready to respond to a medical emergency means you can help right away instead of waiting for an ambulance.

Many businesses are legally required to have employees trained in first aid and CPR, with the specific requirements varying based on industry, common workplace hazards, and the number of employees. Construction sites, manufacturing facilities, childcare centres, and healthcare providers are more likely to face these stricter requirements than low-risk office environments.

Benefits of Onsite Training

CPR First Aid Training

Group bookings at your workplace offer advantages you won’t get from sending employees out to train alone on their own time. Here are some of the benefits of a group or corporate booking:

  • Savings – Thanks to group discounts, group first aid training is more cost-effective than booking individually. The savings will depend on the course and the size of the group. Contact us for a quote.

  • Flexibility – Training onsite at your workplace eliminates travel time and allows you to schedule sessions at a time that works for you and your team.

  • Personal approach – Training together with people you know creates a relaxed environment. It’s easier to take part in role-playing scenarios when you know the other students, and the familiarity encourages participation and question asking.

  • Team building – Group training can bring your team together for a shared learning experience that builds cooperation and communication. Employees learn to work together, strengthening relationships and improving coordination.

  • Immediate compliance – Training multiple staff simultaneously to meet workplace safety requirements ensures your organisation meets any compliance requirements in one single go. Everyone gets their first aid certificates on the same day.

First Aid for Burns and Scalds: Treating Minor Burns at Home

Many Australians will deal with first aid for burns at home long before they ever face a workplace emergency. The response in the first 20 minutes shapes how deeply a burn sets, how long it takes to heal, and whether it scars. A well-handled burn can heal as if the injury barely happened.

Head Injuries: Concussion, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and First Aid

Head injuries cover everything from a minor scalp scrape to serious damage that can affect your brain. Injuries to the outside of the head and the inside can sometimes tell different stories, but other times a small injury may be a sign of much more serious underneath. Knowing how to act in those first few minutes can turn a frightening situation into a more manageable one.

Common injuries vary widely in type, and each calls for a specific first aid response. Whether the injury happens at home, at work, or on the sporting field, acting quickly and correctly can reduce complications and support faster recovery. What you do in the minutes before professional help arrives often shapes how the recovery goes. For the injuries Australians encounter most often, a clear and reliable response exists.
